In the wake of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the world was left in shock and mourning. Among the thousands of lives lost that day was Craig Lilore, a hero whose actions on 9/11 have since been recognized and honored.
Craig Lilore was a firefighter with the New York City Fire Department, serving in Engine Company 22 in Manhattan. On the morning of September 11, 2001, Lilore was among the first responders to the scene of the World Trade Center after the terrorist attacks.
Lilore's bravery and selflessness were on full display as he worked tirelessly to rescue and evacuate civilians from the burning towers. He was last seen heading into the South Tower to continue his rescue efforts, never to return.
In the years following 9/11, Craig Lilore's actions that day have not been forgotten. He was posthumously awarded the 9/11 Heroes Medal of Valor, honoring his courage and sacrifice. A plaque in his memory now stands at the FDNY Firehouse where he served.
Craig Lilore's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and fellow firefighters. He is remembered as a true hero who gave his life in service to others on that fateful day.
Today, on the anniversary of 9/11, we honor and remember Craig Lilore and all those who lost their lives in the attacks. Their bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
