Sebastian Gorki, a survivor of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City, shares his harrowing experience of that tragic day. On September 11, 2001, Gorki was working in the World Trade Center when the Twin Towers were hit by hijacked airplanes.
Gorki recalls the chaos and confusion that ensued as people tried to evacuate the buildings. He remembers the fear and uncertainty that gripped him as he made his way down the stairs, not knowing what was happening above him.
As Gorki reached the ground floor, he heard the sound of the towers collapsing and felt the ground shake beneath his feet. He ran out into the streets, joining the throngs of people fleeing the area as dust and debris filled the air.
After surviving the initial impact and collapse of the towers, Gorki faced the long road to recovery. He struggled with survivor's guilt and PTSD, seeking therapy and support to cope with the trauma he had experienced.
Despite the challenges he faced, Gorki emerged stronger and more determined than ever. He became an advocate for fellow survivors and a voice for those who lost their lives on that fateful day.
Today, Sebastian Gorki continues to share his story in the hopes of honoring the memory of the victims of 9/11 and raising awareness about the lasting impact of the attacks.
